At current usage rates, groundwater will not be accessible in 10 years. The burden on our existing groundwater supplies is dangerously high already. As the demand for groundwater increases, water tables are dropping – often beyond the reach of wells. Municipal water supplies and food production are in jeopardy, and empty aquifers can even lead to sinkholes and ground instability.
